Preschool Extended Day
Preschoolers expand their social horizons in a warm and caring environment with a variety of activities. Both the morning and afternoon programs give children a chance to play indoors and outdoors. Our expansive outdoor area allows children to engage in free play — to run, dig, build, swing, and imagine. In the afternoon, there are games, art activities, STEAM experiences, middle school buddies, and favorite preschool pastimes. A late afternoon snack will be provided.
Elementary (Kindergarten - 5th Grade)
For the fall semester, students will enjoy an after school model that provides a snack at dismissal time, enrichment activities, time to relax and play in the many outdoor areas, support with homework as needed, and of course connections with other students. Programs include students’ choice of games, crafts, and activities each day, fee-based specialty classes (30-60 minutes) led by SFS staff and special instructors, as well as private music lessons (30 minutes) in violin or cello.

Middle School Study Hall (6th - 8th Grade)
Introducing MS CONNECT, SFS’s unique extended day Middle School program. Throughout the school year, in the Extended Day program, middle school students will form connections with the community on and off campus as they work towards fulfilling their humanitarian promise. Our distinctive after school schedule allows students to not only cultivate academic skills with homework support, but it allows them to volunteer their time, energy, and skills to the Portola, SFS, and even farther afield. Students will have weekly opportunities to participate in clean-up efforts in the Portola, assist caring for our youngest learners on campus, engage in some unique volunteer opportunities on campus that reach across the US, and more.
3:30-4:00 Middle School students have 30 minutes to snack and wind down outside
4:00 - 5:00 pm, students can work quietly and/or collaborate on their homework and read. Additionally there will be on-campus service learning activities at this time. Staff will ensure a smooth transition from the academic day to purposeful study hall. New this year, on Wednesdays students will have off-campus volunteer opportunities. Pick-up will be available after 5:15
5:00-6:00 pm Students can continue to work quietly on homework if needed or they can refine some of their leadership skills through leadership activities led by the extended day team and opportunities assisting younger students.
