Make It Personal: How to Write a Personal Essay that Moves Audiences
This four-day summer writing camp is designed for rising 6th-9th grade students who want to write impactful personal essays. This class will develop a deeper understanding of personal narrative writing that students can take with them and apply to any prompt they encounter. Students will also learn that the writing process can be fun.
Through guided workshops, collaborative activities, and individual writing time, students will develop a personal essay that authentically represents who they are. While the goal will be for each student to leave with at least one revised personal essay, no writer can rush the process. These personal essays can be the seeds for high school application personal essays or other purposes where a personal essay is needed. Let’s unearth memories, explore emotions, and play with words to move audiences with personal essay writing.
