Come on a writing adventure this summer! We will read mentor texts, dabble in different types of writing, and tap into your inner world to communicate with others. Throughout the week, you may gravitate towards certain types of writing, whether creative, persuasive, poetic, or academic. Some of it may be short, and some of it may be long. This is your adventure, and you get to choose your path or maybe even multiple paths. We will build skills that will make you a stronger writer no matter what kind of writing it may be. Finding inspiration will also take us off campus and around campus. Writing can also take the form of visual art, so bring your creativity and let’s see where your adventure ends. At the end of the week, you will have created a portfolio of writing that shows both your process and the products that may still be in a work in progress or in a place of completion. Writing is often never really finished, so let’s get started! This class will be taught by Head of School Juna Kim McDaid. Before coming to SFS, Juna taught English and chaired the English department.
